Daryle Ward homered in last night's game for Triple-A Nashville.
Ward could be close to returning from his rehab assignment. He should take over at first base for the Pirates immediately. Aug. 9 - 8:20 am et
anyone think that he could smack long balls like he did before the injury?

Dont count on Darlye Ward coming back and producing for you. I agree with AA, he is nothing more than a backup in a very deep league.

I picked him up since he qualifies at OF in my league. I had Mench who is never gonna see regular time and Gerut has been also playing part-time! At least Ward will play everyday at 1B when he returns. He plays in a good hitters park so I am taking a shot. I am also in a 14 team league so pickins' are slim.

just in....
Daryle Ward (sprained right thumb), who is rehabbing at Triple-A Nashville, could be activated off the disabled list as early as this Friday.
Ward, who has been out of the Pittsburgh lineup since June, will take over as the Pirates' starting first baseman upon his return to action. Aug. 11 - 12:48 pm et

How does he swing at everything, he has a decent .284 avg. His slg is at an amazing .556. How isn't he worth a flyer?
