demaso marte is in to close teh game for the whitesox, up 2-1. does this mean takatsu lost the job? he got hit hard his last time out, and he's had a day off yesterday, so...

I don't think so.

He just game up a hr to Victor Martinez, plus Clev led off the 9th with Hafner, a lefty. I think he was just playing the %'s. Normal situation and Takatsu is still the guy imo.

well, after v-mart's homer and blake's single, they pulled marte and brought in takatsu :-p

still, though, if they were just playing the %, then why leave in marte after he struck out hafner?

They wanted to turn Martinez around to the right side. He's been reputed as a better hitter from the left side, even though his splits are nearly even. In addition, flipping a switch hitter around in a game may screw up his rhythm or whatever. Didn't work here.

Sigh...I own both Contreras and Martinez.

Shocking stat: Marte has 4 saves and 5 blown saves now.

This was a shot for him to perhaps run away with the closing job. Didn't work. I think Ozzie may have kept him in had he retired Hafner and Martinez easily, though Takatsu was definitely ready and waiting.

Edit: Blake's "single" was actually a slow chopper to Alomar. The idiot waited for it instead of charging and Blake beat it out.

Marte might have been givin the opp for the save if he retired Martinez because even though the righty Blake was up, Broussard, another lefty was after him. Even if Marte got them 1-2-3 though, I still don't think Takatsu had lost his job yet.
