i thought Family Guy was cancelled

It was cancelled but as Jackal pointed out, gained popularity afterwards. When the suits saw that, they asked Seth McFarlane to make some more. They announced last year that they should have new episodes some time next year.

Kind of beside the point but I also read that McFarlane was supposed to be on one the the 9/11 planes but missed his flight because he drank too much the night before.

I've also got a new appreciation for South Park. I think Trey Parker and Matt Stone have some pretty smart humour.

South Park is great. They need to make another movie.
