To close with Guardado out. Just pitched a perfect inning vs. Cruz, Lugo, and Hall to record the easy save.

rotoworld:
J.J. Putz, who left Thursday's game with back tightness, pitched a perfect ninth tonight for his first career save.
Even though he entered the game with a 5.48 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP, Putz had to be considered one of the top candidates for saves during Eddie Guardado's absence. He has some value in AL-only leagues.

I'm not going to read anything of note into this save. Situation called for a righty, as Cruz, Lugo and Hall are each far more proficient vs. lefties.

I think Sherrill could also get some shots when the situation calls for a lefty.

It's pretty much the same deal as in KC, which makes a grand total of zero currently active relievers on either team that should be owned by anybody.

About the only thing to be derived from tonight's Mariners save is that Hasegawa is out of the mix.

Yeah I agree. There is far more to be lost than gained by picking up any Seattle reliever at the moment, although I do think Putz will get the majority of any save opps. that happen to come along.

Simply by virtue of the fact that he is a rightie.
