The MLB is making preparations to "pause" the season as early as 2008 so the U.S.A. baseball team can consist of our best players (pros).
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

I rather the MLB send the pros to the World Cup thing that they're trying to setup and just leave the Olympics for the amateurs.

Isn't Olympic baseball ready to be axed and that's why they are pushing for the World Cup? At least that's what I thought.

.... is there a Canadian olympic baseball team?
Yes and yes.

EDIT: He's officially on the Canadian roster but I can't find confirmation that the Twins are "allowing" him to go. This sucks if it's true.

yea the Canadian team invited him and he was named in their roster but he didnt go. and its not possible for him to go now cos he had to have been in teh majors by 31st july in order to be eligible to play for the Canadian team for some reason. i dont see how he can go play for the Canadian team now. i also dont think the Twins woulda dealt Mienkewicz unless they were sure that Morneau was gonna stay. itd totally suck if he left tho.
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.
Morneau isn't on the team last I heard. If he was in the minors he could go but since he's in the majors, I don't even think he could go if he wanted to.
And I'll get that cookie to you sometime Tavish. I'll leave you with this IOU for now.
