i was puzzeled as well. i figured if we were going to break it this year, it would have been at the trade deadline. but alas, it was 3 days later.

maybe league trade deadlines. one of my leagues had the trade deadline on august 1 and another will be august 15, so maybe people are trying to get the last trades of the season in.

Perlick I was talking about the date last night, I kinda figured the first one but even with league trade deadlines I wouldn't have expected that many to be online. The real trade deadline should have garnered more people, there were quite a lot on at the time if I remember correctly.

Yep, we broke the old records last year a few times in August due to real life trades plus the fantasy trade deadlines. Don't forget that this is make or break time for some players out there. They have to do something now or they can forget any hope they have of winning their leagues.

Anyway, I think I was here during that time, but Congrats to the Cafe' on another record broken!
