I am thinking of upgrading my harddrive to 200gb and getting the mod chip installe with all features ripping dvd play, mp3 all that stuff. A guy here will do it for $60 with out the HD. Do any of you guys have a modded Xbox, and do you like it? Pros and Cons?
You can burn over the current chip or get a modded chip that you can swich on and off to still alow you to play LIVE. You can replace the HD with a larger one and rent games save them to your HD and then return them. Also you can install apps that allow you to play DVD, rip movies off internet, MP 3. I mean an X-Box is really just a computer. Go to your local Frys and see how much a 200gb HD runs, prolly 100-115. Drop that bitch in and off you go.
Now has anyone done this yet? What were the pros and cons if any. Advice is greatly appreciated.
Xbox games are just on DVD disks. You can mod you Xbox to play burnt copies of the games. A buddy of mine had a PS2 mod in college and had TONS of games.
Anybody know where to get a cheap mod chip? Preferably one with an on/off switch, and it doesn't matter if it's solder-less.
I check every once in a while on the internet and there's always new expensive ones coming out, and the older ones that were cheap and apparently worked, are no longer available. Any suggestions?

well i am going the route of just having a guy set up the chip and all the extras. I am providing the HD, which is about $110. So my total investment will run about $280. You better know how to install that chip because if you up you screw yourself big time! And its not Illegal. Is it Illegal to modify your computer, your car? NO
so why can't you increase your HD?
