Bob Murphy passes away.

Postby perlick29 » Tue Aug 03, 2004 11:20 pm

I was at the Yankee game tonight and I heard over the PA that Bob Murphy, long time commentator for the Mets passed away.

I was saddened because I respect a good commentator, and he was one in his day. I didn't see it posted yet here at the cafe so I thought I would.

I did a great impression of him a long time ago because of his emphasis on the letter Z. Rey Ordonezzz was always a target for me to impersonate him as Ordonezzz would hit a homerun, I had the call down pretty well.

He will be missed.

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

That musn't have happened too often :-D . In all seriousness, I'm going to miss hearing him on WFAN. I was so glad he got his own night at Shea last September when he retired. He truly is a legend and he will be sorely missed by Met fans. It's kind of weird because on the day of his death here in NYC, Time Warner Cable just pulled the MSG Network and Fox Sports Net starting today over some stupid dispute so there were probably alot more radio listeners today on WFAN (including myself).

Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
Sick of those who feel self-entitled.
Sick of those who are hypocrites.
Yes doctor, an army is forming.
Yes doctor, there will be a war.

I can't believe that I forgot to post that. I don't like the Mets but Murph was easy on the ears. RIP, Murph.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
