What are ppl's takes on Olerud's possible value?
My initial reaction is that he'll be of little or no value, but... let's have him run the gauntlet of Cafe opinion.
I doubt he will have much value. He's a much better addition to the Yankees than he is to a fantasy team. Assuming Giambi misses the remainder of the season, I think Clark will still see a majority of the playing time at 1B and Olerud will be used more as an insurance policy.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
olerud = fantasy irrelevant. he just doesnt got what it takes. unless its a deep/AL only league.
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.
Even at his peak, Olerud was a run of the mill fantasy performer considering his position. Now, he figures to be worth even less. Snow, Mientkiewicz, Olerud...same type, of limited value only as reserves in deep leagues.
i agree as well. though i do not believe having him on your squad will hurt you in any way (specially if your league counts errors, as mine does), you will probably be better off looking elsewhere unless your best 1B on the FA list is jason phillips...

I would take Phillips over Olerud ...
