I agree, that's pretty lame.

I wonder why Wright came up as a 3B and Upton as SS?

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Wright's first start was at 3B. Upton got called up and played his first game as DH. Apparently, Yahoo only assigns the first start position for mid-season call-ups. Seemed different for rookies beginning the season on the roster, but I don't know what the criteria is/was.

At the start of the season they apparently use 'primary position' in the minors. It's lame that they use 'first MLB start' for midseason call-ups.
Burned me with Morneau and Bucky. I need a backup 1b in a real deep league. At least Morneau is getting close to 1b elig.

Upton worth a #1 priority

Postby whefner » Tue Aug 03, 2004 12:48 pm

Would you use a #1 priority on Upton. This is a non-keeper league and I currently have Vizquel and Larkin as SS. So I don't neccessarily need him but if he puts up good #'s I would use him over the others. I was waiting to use the priority on a SP which I could use but I don't see anything coming along that will help over lidle or Wells who I have going now.

The other thing this would do is keep him away from my opponents.

The chances of anything else coming along are slim. With Larkin and Vizquel as my SSs I would definitely use my waiver priority and take a flier on Upton. ;-D

BJ Upton listed as 'SS/DH' in Yahoo leagues....

Yahoo must have just changed it minutes ago! I added Upton and he was listed as a DH. I went back to marvel at my 1st place roster and I see 'SS,DH" next to his name....YES!
