Goodwin's Law FBC style

Goodwin's Law of Usenet
Professor Goodwin, U of I, in 1981 made the observation that Usenet discussions gravitate downhill.

He postulated that as the length of a discussion thread grows, the probability approaches one (1) that one participant will introduce the terms "Hitler" or "Nazi".

The custom has evolved that the first party to utter "Hitler" or "Nazi" has lost the discussion, and the thread terminates.

Nearly every online community I have been a part of has some type of variation on Goodwin's Law. What can we come up with that sums up the Cafe pretty well? I'll try a couple to get the ball rolling.

As the length of a discussion thread on Johan Santana grows, the probability approaches one (1) that one participant will introduce Zito is God's preseason predictions.

The usefullness of the thread will be destroyed turning into personal vindications posts of "I was right about Santana" and self-defense posts of "At least I made a prediction."

As the length of a discussion thread about the Red Sox grows, the probability approaches one (1) that one participant will introduce a comment about Jeter being overrated.

The usefullness of the thread will be destroyed, turning into an unwinnable debate about leadership, clutch, and the Yankee's payroll.

What others do we have? :-D

That sounds pretty good.

I don't want to see any more threads about Jeter, since almost EVERY SINGLE ONE is the exact same. Same pretty much goes for Santana, but at least those can be useful when talking about young SP's and potential. As long as Barry Zito's name isn't mentioned, because he's obviously a has-been while Santana is one of the best pitchers in baseball :-D

As the length of a discussion thread involving Wrveres grows, the probability approaches one (1) that he will introduce the term "blending babies"

The usefulness of the thread will be destroyed turning into a political flamefest

:-D just kidding wrveres
