When'd this happen? It depends on how much he starts...I doubt he'll be fulltime, as Clark hasn't been that bad. If he does start, yes, he'll definitely have value, as any spot in the Yankee lineup results in ribs. Top 15-20 1B if that's the case, I think.

By starting Enrique Wilson and now Olerud, Torre seems to be doing what he can to keep the AL East kind of close. It's probably not going to work, though. AL-only leaguers might as well pick Olerud up.
I'd imagine part of the agreement of him coming to the East Coast is that he'd be the everyday starter vs. RHP (at least til he proves he can/can't handle the job).
I think this move will not help anyone fantasy-wise unless you happen to use fielding %. Olerud is a superb defensive 1B but his bat has been terrible the past few years. He might get a little jolt moving into the potent Yankees lineup, but I suspect he still won't hit more than .260 the rest of the way out.
if youre in a 12 team league or sumtin' i have one word to describe Olerud- irrelevant.
in deeper/AL only leagues hes worth considering.
id take Hillenbrand over him anytime.
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.
He had no value in Seattle where he played everyday, he definately has no value in New York where he'll have to fight for playing time with Clark, Giambi, Sierra and Lofton. He's not even a good offensive contributor anyway. No value for Johnny.

I agree
Olerud is in his decline ever since he left the Mets. Like most Yankees, he will do pretty good for the first week or so, then become his normal self again. He's a consistent, reliable option (ral life) at 1B while Giambi is gone than Clark may be, and it's probably because of defense.
