Kazmir Vs. Zambrano Short Term and Long Term

The stats that I'm very optimistic about is his career 35-27 record with the D-RAYS. That has to be mean something. A winning record with one of the worst teams in baseball since their inception. Also had a .230 BAA last year and 7.66 K's per 9 innings. Everyone knows he gives up lots of walks, but effective nonetheless. Kind of like Kaz Ishii. If he can control his walks, he will be a very good/great pitcher.

Yeah, that's the thing... his walks. Maybe it's a problem that all D'Rays have due to a bad pitching coach :-? Brazelton doens't have the greatest control either...... neither do Colome or Sosa :-?

To me, it sounds like excuses for making this deal. The bottom line is that they could have gotten more for him than they did. And this is coming from someone who likes Zambrano's stuff.

It may be your opinion but it's not a bottom line. Kazmir was heavily scouted at the beginning of the season. When it became apparent that the Mets were willing to part with him, if other teams were so in love with the guy why didn't the Mets get barraged with other offers? And don't tell me that they were because if they had been the NY press would have been all over it. The Daily News actually nailed the Kazmir/Zambrano trade a week ago.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Oh for sure I think they should have got more for him...... in that sense the trade is imbalanced. But I think it could turn out to be beneficial if they can solve Zam's control problems. However not as beneficial as if they had landed somebody better...... obviously.
