Loaiza and Contreras both plain suck. I want no part of either of them on this team. So yes, I'd prefer if we had just given Contreras away for nothing if Loaiza is all that could be gotten for him.

sigh... we want for johnson... we get loaiza?? this is sad.
i agree. both loaiza and contreras suck. consistency you want? are you so sure you'll get it from loaiza? what makes people think he's THAT much a better option than contreras.. imo, this is a pointless trade. i never liked loaiza even when he won 20 games. at least contreras had a lil upside...

I think it was Dr. Doom who put it best when he said the Yankees were searching for consistency. So they traded for Loaiza accepting the fact that he although he is more consistent than Contreras he is mediocre. They have the bats to make up for the 4 runs a game that Loaiza gives up. Contreras has the upside but in the playoffs they just cant risk him giving up a lot of runs.
