Posada, Jorge
Durazo, Erubiel
Stynes, Chris (dropped for Hairston, Jr. for more steals)
Crede, Joe
Rollins, Jimmy
Bonds, Barry
Williams, Bernie
Sheffield, Gary
Mondesi, Raul
Blalock, Hank
I am ahead in most of the batting catagories. My pitching on the other hand... is trash (except for closers)
Garcia, Freddy
Ortiz, Russ
Rueter, Kirk
George, Chris
Chacon, Shawn
Graves, Danny (yeesh!)
Lowe, Derek
Vazquez, Javier
Astacio, Pedro(DL)
Gagne, Eric
Worrell, Tim
Nen, Robb(DL)
Hoffman, Trevor(DL)
Obviously, with that crew... I am below average in most catagories.
Here is my weird question.
Since my team is leading most batting catagories, and I have a pretty good RP crew... should I even play any Starting pitchers for the rest of the league? I am losing points in (L, CG, SHO, H, ER, K, WHIP) If I just play my RP's, I will gain points in L, H, ER, WHIP, and will probably be the leading scoring in the catagories at the end of the year if I don't play anymore SP. I will be in the bottom of W, CG, SHO, K. But since my team doesn't look like it will get a CG, or a SHO this year... that only leaves 2 catagories that I will be in the bottom of. If I stack my pitching squad with 5 RP, do you think that is a good move, or am I just being a moron?
I'm looking for any input at all... I don't care what it is! Please post!!! (Call me a dumbass if you want!!!!!!)
Well, I don't think the question is all that weird...
Actually, I think this strategy is probably a good way to go, even though you do have some talent at sp. I like this strategy a lot, but it's tricky.
First of all, double-check your league constitution to make sure you don't have an innings pitched minimum. A number of leagues have implemented this to counteract exactly this strategy.
Also, you'll have to pick up a couple more solid relievers, which should be doable in a 12-team league, but you'll also have to improve your hitting still further by trading away your sp's.
Another problem might be if another team or two catches on to what you're doing and decides to take the same route - then you'll again have to fight for points you thought would be yours.
I think what I'd do is give your starters just a little more time. If Lowe, Vazquez and Company start gaining you points instead of losing them, so much the better. If it looks like you're still headed nowhere, regroup and switch to the rp-strategy.
