What happened to Brad Penny?

I read that he left the game with a chest injury and another source said it was "heat-related" - Anyone know the deal? I'm hoping the Fin can hold on to give him a W but Benitez is out so ... :-o

He left with a heat related illness.

He'd thrown 95 pitches through only 5 innings so was making heavy weather of it.

Should be fine for his next scheduled start but until Benetiz gets back that Marlins bullpen is looking decidedly shaky. That gun starting rotation is going to have to stand up big time now.

How do you leave the game from a heat related illness when it was raining and there was a rain delay after the 3rd inning? Seems like plenty of time to get rest and it wasn't that hot as it was cloudy and raining.

Are you serious 8-o

Ever heard of humidity?

It was 80 degrees at 10 o'clock so the humidity must have been very high.

The report I read said Penny was struggling to catch his breath in the muggy conditions.

It was just good to see Penny strike a few guys out after getting just one a piece in his previous 2 starts. Hopefully he still has plenty left in the tank.

He has been pitching in Miami for years now, this has never came up that I know of. Yet it happens when it isn't as hot out as normally with the sun not as bad and he gets a nice break in the middle of his outing? I just found that really odd and yes I know about the weather in Florida ... I live there.

uh no.
if you'll read new zealand fan's location next to his post, you'll find a clever little remark about a chubby spastic pitcher named mike fetters. returned to the d-backs a lil while back. perhaps you've seen him pitch

do i seem lost to you? i feel quite oriented.
or do you use that as a line to pick up women in baseball forums. :)

please make sure this is the last time you call me out in public. i may wear a little yellow L, but judging by the tone of some of the other threads, it's ok to be random and jocular 'round here.

PS dig the zoolander quote. see i can't help commenting on the profile/sig/location tidbits.
