The Dodgers offered a GREAT package to the D-Backs to get the Unit, but RJ turned it down...stupid ugly punk.

Why wouldn't he turn it down? The Dodgers are not what I would call a surefire contender. They're simply the best in a weak division.

Well if it was as "GREAT" a package as the RedSox gave up for Schilling, it was probably 3 broken bats, a dozen dirty baseballs, and an open bag of Davids...

Quit wasting everybody's time with statements that aren't remotely true.....

The D-Bakcs would NEVER deal RJ to a contender in their one divison. They aren't stupid....

I don't disagree with the sentiment here; but I'd be interested. If the package was, say, Edwin Jackson and Chad Billingsley-- well, then I'm sure they'd deal him in the division anyway...

Any one know for certain what the package was?

Johnson only has a couple years left before he retires...who really cares if he ends up in the same division if the package is right. Its not like Arizona is contending right now anyway.

I was driving to work this morning and heard on a sports radio show that the d-backs wanted a closer, a catcher, and perhaps a prospect for rj. the radio show proceeded to say that the d-backs wanted mota, loduca, and some double-a MI for rj, but rj didn't want to go to the dodgers. first of all, this trade wouldn't make sense on either part, second of all, loduca AND mota, third of all, the d-backs wouldn't trade within division. i've been talking amongst friends here and they all think the media made this one up. not a chance at it ever happening, just b.s. bored sports writers made up. you trade away two key players like that and that's how a team's chemistry is ruined, regardless of who you get in return.[/b]
