I like beckett too, and I can probably get him for Konerko, but im scared of the injury, hopefully he can pitch like last year down the stretch, anyone else???
If you absolutely have to drop two, keep Beckett. But only because he's tested. If you can keep two, keep Burnett as well. This guy has been getting better and better and could hit his stride soon. He's dropped his ERA down over his past few starts. Before he got injured he was going to be the Marlins big gun, better than Beckett. If you're in a keeper league he's going to be good next year too.
a healthy beckett would be my definite number one....but with that said i dont think beckett will be healthy enough from here on out, so i would go with harden
I do not think Beckett will be healthy this year, so my pick is Burnett. Florida will have to start scoring runs for him if they want to make the playoffs, and he's been very good otherwise. He probably deserved only about 2 of his 5 losses, and should have won more.
I like Burnett too, due to Beckett's risk of blisters. Like Beckett, Burnett has dominant stuff and seems to have returned to form very quickly from TJS.
but if he doesnt show any signs of getting healthy at all... Burnett.
Manny Ramirez....$20 million
Pedro Martinez....$17.5 million
Curt Schilling...$12 million (and a $2 million bonus)
Never hearing a Yankee fan chant 1918 again...priceless.
There's no way Beckett will stay healthy, otherwise he'd be the obvious choice. Burnett will battle inconsistency the rest of the year. I feel that Harden has turned the corner and his stuff is just as nasty as those other guys. He's had quality starts in four of his last five outings. He plays on a team that always gets hot in the second half. And as big as Florida's park is, Oakland's foul territory makes it even more pitcher friendly.
