he has a 500k buyout of his contract for next year. as i understand it, stl paid 7 million (which is all or virtually all of this years salary) and the rays just have to pay 500k in the offseason to buyout the remaining year of the contract.

good deal for the d-rays, bad for the cards. we are paying tino to play for you guys and we couldnt even get a decent prospect in return.

I wouldn't mind them getting either Tino or Olerud although they won't have to trade for Olerud, right?? Tino was great for the clubhouse during his last stint.

McGriff would be an interesting move. He's a proven veteran and maybe even a future hall of famer....Maybe the Yanks will let him complete his quest for home run no. 500..... :-?
