VMart has to be one of the most pleasant surprises of the year. Was he even on the radar screen this spring?

Yes, he was.

Before the draft I said he would be my starting catcher and I drafted him from the start. I had him ranked 8th best before the season started behind let's see if I remember:

Posada, Piazza, Javy, Pudge, Craig Wilson, Lecroy, and Kendall.

I think it was Tek and somebody else that came right after him to round out the top ten.

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

In one league I drafted Danny Graves, JD Drew, and Vinny Castilla. Also, picked up Dye off waivers. Sold high on all of them to get studs. ;-D

Victor Martinez was on the radar going into the second half of the 2003 season. He had been touted as a top catching prospect going into the 2003 season. Nonetheless with his poor play in 2003, I avoided him in my keeper draft (despite knowlegde that he has historically taken a bit of time to adjust to each level :,-( ).

I drafted Benitez, VMart, and Carl Crawford in the late rounds, and a host of others off of free agency.

I didn't draft them, but I've managed to pick up Victor Martinez, Sean Casey, Vinny Castilla, Jeromy Burnitz and Carlos Guillen as free agents. I did draft Melvin Mora in the 17th round and Michael Young in the 21st. I've been pretty happy with them.
