Floyd returned to Montreal on Monday, the place where his career began, and said that he planned to retire in two years, after the 2006 season, when his four-year, $26 million contract will expire. Floyd will be only 33, having played in fewer major league games than most of his peers, but he has already sustained enough injuries to last a career.
"My body is beat up," said Floyd, who has had operations on his left knee, his right wrist and his right foot, and has missed a month of this season with a strained quadriceps. "I want to go out there. I want to play because I really love the game. But I only know what I feel. At this point, two years can't come fast enough."
Not terrible news. I love Floyd but seriously doubt he would have been in the Mets plans beyond 2006.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
He's a good guy and a good, talented player but I'm not surprised with this news. He's been beat up his whole career. Hopefully he can be productive until he retires though

thats a perfect Mets signing ....
33 years old, injured and doesn't want to play anymore ... Sounds like a Met to me ...
What is up with you? Were you beaten by a Mets fan as a child?

ahh what is baseball if you can't poke fun at the Mets constantly signing old broken down players.
But in terms of Roto ..
I acually own a few Mets on a number of squads.
Piazza on almost every team
Wright on a few
Tommy on a few
and even I even own Floyd and Phillips in one capacity or another, which probably explains why I am not doing to hot this year.
... .
I mean its the Mets ...
MEET THE METS, MEET THE METS, Step right up and greet the Mets! Bring your kiddies, bring your wife; Guaranteed to have the time of your life because the Mets are really sockin’ the ball; knocking those home runs over the wall! East side, West side, everybody’d coming down to meet the M-E-T-S Mets of New York town! Oh, the butcher and the baker and the people on the streets, where did they go? To MEET THE METS! Oh, they’re hollerin’ and cheerin’ and they’re jumpin’ in their seats, where did they go? To MEET THE METS! All the fans are tru to the orange and blue, so hurry up and come on down - ‘cause we’ve got ourselves a ball club, The Mets of New York town! Give ‘em a yell! Give ‘em a hand! And let ‘em know your rootin’ in the stand!
Ya gotta love a bunch of fans that get excited when "Baby Mac" comes to bat.
Speaking of Floyd and wrveres, I seem to remember someone who would rather have had Floyd than JD Drew at the beginning of the season. Now, who was that...hmmm...oh, I remember now.

Cliff is worn out, I actually was kinda surprised that he said he would play until 2006. Why should he if he doesnt' even like have the passion for it anymore?
