Meinkewicz is terrible. Good defense, yeah, but just horrendous. No potential. Hell, Pirates are better off with Deryl Ward! Littlefield shoud be shot execution style if he made this trade striaight up.

Amen. This would not upgrade the team. He is no better then Randall Simon...and I am sure no one has Simon on their team.
I will not rest until I have you holding a coke, wearing your own shoe, playing a Sega game featuring you, while singing your own song in a new commercial starring you, broadcast during a super bowl game you are winning. Show me the $$$!!!
The Pirates and Twins still appear to be probable trade partners in a Kris Benson deal. There's a stong possibility Doug Mientkiewicz and one of Mike Restovich or Michael Cuddyer will head to Pittsburgh. The Pirates like Minnesota minor league OF Jason Kubel, but the Twins don't want to give him up. Jul. 27 - 7:32 am et Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
more than mientkiewicz, I guess.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

Benson is no Jason Schmidt.
really ?
Do you actually think Benson is another Schmidt? I know there are similarities and I argued in another thread that Benson has the stuff and is at the perfect age to "ripen". But I think it's a bit of a stretch to assume he'll become another Schmidt.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
Sorry Buc fans....but I think this would be a bad move by the Twins...Since they are going in a playoff push...Benson is not the type pitcher they need...a few numbers from this year...With runners on base, he has a .290 BAA...with RISP he is at .295....his BAA is .340+ when he goes past 75 pitches...His K/BB has gone down from 2.13 in 2000 to 1.9 this year...
A high BBA in scoring situations...combined with low innings...a declining K/BB rate...and switching leagues....I see Suppan with the BoSox last year...
