Who was the last player to win a World Series game for a team which acquired him in the middle of the season?

umm...he's right, isn't he? I dont mean to be negative here, but try to know the CORRECT answer to any question you ask. If you think someone's done it more recently, then look up the definition of "acquired". The only people to win games in the WS more recently who didnt play full season's with their teams were John Lackey and F-Rod (with the Angels in 2002), so the "correct" answer would have to be one of them, so I'll take Lackey since he won game 7 and F-Rod won game 2. (The reason that these aren't really the correct answer is because they weren't acquired, they simply started their MLB careers for the Angels part way through the 2002 season. They were called up from the minors, not "acquired".
Seeing as the Braves have won 12 division titles in a row, does that mean that soon they are going to have to start making columns as well???

Hitchcock won game 5 vs Arizona in 2001. He was acquired on July 30, 2001 in a trade with the San Diego Padres for Brett Jodie and Darren Blakely.

Your original question said "player" not pitcher. If you're not looking for a pitcher than I guess Jeff Conine could be considered a correct answer.

I'm not sure who you're looking for since I'm sure Sterling Hitchcock fits the question. Here's a list of pitchers who won World Series games without beginning the season with the team. One of them should be correct.

Sterling Hitchcock 2001 New York Yankees
Graeme Lloyd 1996 New York Yankees
Jim Clancy 1991 Atlanta Braves
Dan Schatzeder 1987 Minnesota Twins
Mike Torrez 1977 New York Yankees
Bud Daley 1961 New York Yankees
Sal Maglie 1956 Brooklyn Dodgers
Tom Ferrick 1950 New York Yankees
Hank Borowy 1945 Chicago Cubs
Wilcy Moore 1932 New York Yankees
Tom Zachary 1928 New York Yankees
Pete Alexander 1926 St. Louis Cardinals
Alex Ferguson 1925 Washington Senators
Jack Scott 1922 New York Giants
Hugh McQuillan 1922 New York Giants

Accepted as answer by POSADA is KING on Thu Jul 29, 2004 2:42 pm EST.
