Ricky likes smoking marijuana. The NFL wouldn't let him so he quits. Quite frankly, I think thats a gutsy F-U move on his part. If a player wants to smoke some ganja in the privacy of his own home that's his business. I don't see why the NFL should test for non-performance enhancing substances.
Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.

rashaan salaam, thats why. he got hurt, started smoking weed everyday and lost all desire to do anything related to football.
As a huge Ricky fan, he couldn't EVER hit a curveball in A ball and he wasn't a very good baseball player. Well he wasn't good enough to make it to the bigs. We aren't talking Bo Jackson here. He played baseball so he could move his mom and two sisters to Austin and away from SD where he grew up. He liked it, but its not going to be worth it for him to try to Mike Jordan himself in little small towns in the eastern league and taking a spot away from those who really do care about the sport. And besides, his body is a wreck.

I don't think Williams will play baseball - he's been away from it for 5 years. I'm still shocked he retired from football (helps the Jets at least - thay can't stop the run)
BTW, if Ricky Williams did decide to play baseball, Steinbrenner wud probably give him big, big bucks, probably stealing him from the Red Sox.

Becasue it is illegal to have marijuana, that's why...
