I just watched some film to verify this.
Rotoworld.com wrote:Pitching coach Bryan Price noticed that in Joel Pineiro's shelling by the Red Sox last week, the righthander's back foot was three inches in front of the pitching rubber.
''You don't usually look down to see where your foot is," Pineiro said. ''I'm like almost everyone else, I use the rubber to drive off to throw a pitch. And here I was not using it and didn't even realize it.'' Hopefully Pineiro can make the changes necessary to get back on track. Jul. 25 - 9:16 am et

I hope he doesn't overthink today against the Angels.

That is really odd, was this only pitching from the stretch? You would think he would notice something like that...

No, he was doing it from the windup too. I guess he was focusing on other things. To me, it sounds more like a football player mistake than one you would expect a baseball player to make.

You said you dropped him because of your NL pitchers are better epiphany

. He is actually a team leader, far from a headcase in my mind.

I pitched for a lot of years and can't imagine not throwing off the rubber. That's just hard to believe. Is he saying he didn't push off the rubber for the whole game? Or a few pitches? I don't get that one at all.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'

Pineiro has a great game once in a while but isn't consistent and when he's bad, he's really bad.
I really can't see how somebody can not notice they're just pitching off of dirt instead of the rubber. Seems impossible to me even for a couple pitches, let alone an entire game.
