Which cards to go after?

Postby CrazyPooja90 » Sun Jul 25, 2004 12:33 am

I was wondering which cards should I go after now before they raise in value real soon. I don't just mean rookies that I should get cheap now, but other cards that will greatly leap in value after a few years.

Obviously rookie cards are ones to target. Future Hall of Famer's are good too. Anyone who will be inducted in the near future is who you want to target if you are looking at a quick turnaround.

Not sure how much the rookie cards are going for now, but Boggs and Sandberg will most likely be the 2005 HoF class, maybe Dawson in 2006.

Apart from the cards mentioned, another occasional opportunity is figuring out which cards of a set are short prints before that information is released. :-)

A different track might be to target older sets that aren't terribly popular with collectors (yet). I fondly remember picking up a Maury Wills rookie (and other '63s) for under a dollar in the days when Fleer issues weren't considered 'real' cards...
