Paint Shop Pro 8?

I just downloaded the trial of Paint Shop Pro 8 and have been playing around with it with decent results so far. I've got a question though for those familiar with the program.

Is there a way to resize pics without distorting the image? Everytime i resize a pic (making it smaller) the pic gets distorted, and i haven't been able to figure out how to avoid this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Let's say this. Paintshop Pro is to Photoshop as a dodge neon is to a Mercedes Benz, sure they both have that nice new car smell in the beginning but which is the better car in the long run?

In other words stick with Photoshop if you have the choice.
