I heard during the game the other day that his father was a very sharp dresser and they called him "El Duque," The Duke. The nickname was passed on to his son.

ding! ding! ding! Winnnahhhh!

If a man dwells on the past, then he robs the present.
But if a man ignores the past, he may rob the future.
The seeds of our destiny are nurtured by the roots of our past.

El Guapo should have been El Gordo. Whoever was in charge of nicknames must have just gotten their translations mixed up.

Yeah, "Pulpo" means squid.
I thought it was hilarious that they called the big, fat slob "El Guapo."
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
