Freel is still a FA in my 12 team roto league. We use OBP instead of BA.
I have Figgins on my bench, and have kept him only for the occasional SB injection. But my question is:
Does Chone Figgins have any more fantasy value than Ryan Freel for the rest of the season?
If he doesn't I'm going to use him in my trades to try to sweeten the deal.
I like Freel, but I'd say hold onto Figgins. Freel is not guaranteed a spot when Griffey, and perhaps Larson and Kearns come back. The latest word is that the Reds might call-up propsect Encarnacion from AA to play 3rd soon, meaning Freel would likely be out of a permanent spot as long as Wily Mo continues his hot play.
Both Freel and Figgins are about 5 games from gaining MI eligibility in Yahoo (2B for Freel, SS for Figgins), but neither of which gets a lot of time there so don't take that into consideration...it may not even happen at all.
Figgins doesn't seem to be running as much lately. If that trend continues then I think Freel will be more valuable. Right now though, Figgins is more valuable.
I dropped Figgins once the steals dried up about a month ago (they moved him to 2nd in the order, which limited his chances). He only has 1 steal in July. I just added Freel to hopefully irk out a win in Steals this week. For the short term I think Freel has a definite edge.

figgins has not been running at all, and the reds are trying to get ryan freel in the lineup every day regardless of the position because he can play anywhere and he has been stealing pretty often lately, and your league used obp and he gets a lot of walks.
I'd keep Chone, he has slowed down a bit but he can give you that injection that you need. Freel will lose time and isn't the most stable choice anyway.

The Reds have put Freel everywhere, but you have to remember they're down Griffey and Kearns at the moment. When those two get back, Freel's time could be cut. Especially the way Wily Mo Pena has gone off lately. Figgins is assured of playing time with Glaus done for the year.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'
