Had a thought...it seems that when the Red Sox are approaching their last at bat and its within reason that they can still come back, they always make sure to give up just one or two more runs to put to bed any thoughts of a meaningful uprising.
So here's the stat that I don't feel like looking for that maybe some of you stat junkies will enjoy searching for. What is the Red Sox relievers ERA in the bottom of the 8th of road games and top of the 9th in home games when trailing by 4 runs or less. Example tonight, trailing 8-4, they give up 2 runs in the top of the ninth JUST IN CASE they had any thoughts of winning. I bet their ERA in such situations is AT LEAST 14...and im not giving some hilarious exaggeration, I really think its somewhere in that area. Absolutely absurd. They suck...the only team in ANY FACTION OF THE EXISTENCE OF BASEBALL tahts playing worse than the Red Sox is my roto team, BOOOO!!
So anybody wanna be a pal and find that stat for me?
Rest in peace Mitch Hedberg. I name my fantasy team "Buoyancy of Citrus", in your honor.
