Marcus Giles 2nd half SBs?

Postby warrick95 » Wed Jul 21, 2004 12:15 am

I'm trying to figure out where my team's headed in the 2nd half. I only have 3.5/12 points in SBs, but only 3/12 in AVG. Giles is at least a four category guy, depending on how many bases he steals. Now, what sort of SB production can I expect from him over the 2nd half? I have two/three teams barely ahead of me, so starting J. Reyes over him (packaging Giles with an OF for a better OF), might be beneficial (what could M. Giles+Dye or Floyd reel in...a Sheffield like player?). I'm doing very well in R, HR, and RBI...and did that without Giles for the entire year. I've had J Hairston Jr. at 2B recently, so if I do keep Giles, I should be able to run away with HR and RBI, at least.

Oh look...I rambled on again. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. He thieved 6 in 37 games this year, 14 in 145 last year. If he continues the sort of pace he was on this year, he could be absolutely brutal.

Giles won't steal all that much i dont think. I think 10-15 is reasonable.

Giles+Dye = more than Sheffield in my mind. I think you could ask for Manny and not be ashamed of an offer like that.

He'll get a few SBs, but that's not where his value is. I guarantee you one thing, you won't see any head first slides(at least I hope not}

he probably will not steal as much because of the lingering effects of that shoulder injury.

has he attempted a steal since he came back? i believe that the answer is no. i know that he is not dumb enough to go head first into 2nd base, but this man also takes a pounding just playing defense in the field.

and last night he visited the trainer and got examined between innings after making a throw to 1st.

the announcers said that he mouthed the words "oh my" after taking a warm-up swing and reaching for his shoulder.

i hope that he is fine, but be aware of the situation.

he will probably run more next season....just my take!
