The guy is either cycling steroids or he's bi-polar. How else do you explain his hot and cold streaks?
2000:
All year: 19 HR / 74 RBI / .251
2001:
Okay, he was tight all year! (The bat flip begins).
37 HR / 141 RBI / .331 AVG
2002:
Pre: 12 / 53 / .229 (No bat flips, mostly eye-twitches)
2003:
Pre All-Star break: 24 HR / 76 RBI / .313 AVG
Post All-star break: 11 / 41 / .267
2004:
Pre All-Star break: 11 HR / 36 RBI / .236 AVG
Post: 15 HR / 55 RBI / .300 AVG
Although to Boonie's credit, he claims if he was taking steroids, "he'd be in the NBA." So he's probably legit.

I think this infusion of youngsters may be having a rejuvinating effect on what's left of the old guard (Ichiro, Winn, Boone, Ibanez). The Mariners still suck, but over the past week they're at least putting guys on base and scoring runs.
Hopefully this bodes for a better second half for Boone, who was virtually untradeable a week ago.

Not that this means much, but Gammons said he wouldn't be surprised to see him realeased in a couple weeks as he's 140 AB's from some 8 milion dollar thingy.... pure speculation
Funny but horrible if a boone brother sinks the Sox two straight years for the Hitlers

Not to cast aspersions on Mr. Gammon's powers of prognostication, but I don't see it. Unlike the situation with Aurelia and Olerud, the M's don't have a top 2b prospect ready to give a shot. Plus, Boone has enough left to give him some trade value. That's more likely to happen in the next week than a flat release.
