RYAN MADSON Should Be Starting!

Postby Patella Tendon » Tue Jul 20, 2004 11:51 am

Ryan Madson is working on another impressive scoreless streak.
Earlier this season Madson set the Phillies record of 21 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run. Those innings also happened to be the first of his career. After 2 1/3 scoreless innings last night, Madson now has another 21-inning streak in the works to lower his ERA to 1.84. He's appeared in just about every role for the Phillies this season and is quite valuable for a long reliever. Jul. 20 - 9:02 am et

How can they leave Brett Myers stinking up the joint?

The Phillies cannot win with the way they are handling their starters.

Remember what happened the last time Madson started? :-D

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

That start was against the White Sox - not too good scouting the opposite league if you ask me.

He deserves another chance - look at how he is pitching to teams in the same league!

I agree...put Abott in the pen and bring out Madson until Padilla comes back. His pitch count would obviousally be low, so it would be important to have guys in the pen ready

and yes to say he got rocked on his first start is an understatement, but against one of the best offenses and one of the most hitter friendly parks in mlb. the guy deserves another chance..
