Whitesox closer

I just picked up Takatsu in a deal over the weekend. I know he's the definite closer but do you think it's a good idea to grab Marte as insurance just in case or use an open roster spot on a guy that may actually be a usefull starter maybe?

I have Takatsu and he's been lights out so far in save situations. I guess it depends if you need starting or not, it couldn't hurt to pick up Marte, I feel pretty confident with Takatsu though.

Am from Chi-town. There is absolutely no talk or hint of any changes in the CL position. Marte hasnt been mentioned as such since Tak took over. I do get the feeling tho that if there were a trade for a hard-thrower, tak would be out. Keep eyes/ears open to be safe. Thats the thinking now in baseball, the CL must throw hard heat. Cant think off-hand of any "softies" as successfull CL'ers. Can anyone?

"Soft-throwing closers"- maybe Hoffman, his best pitch is his changeup, but he throws a pretty good fastball too.

Marte has no chance (with the usual disclaimers about "never say never") of closing this year. If anyone in your league is waiting on him or interested in him, dump him.

Takatsu has not only been good statistically, but he has looked dominant. No, he does not throw 95, but the guy is a freak. He has about 3-4 different "frisbees" he throws up there, can locate and can get it up to 88-89 when he needs to. I have been watching baseball for about 20 years and I can't remember a guy that looks as goofy as this...I have seen MLB hitters double clutch and look flat-out bad more against this guy than any other guy I can remember who didn't have filthy stuff.

I was not a believer early on, but this guy is a pro...and he is a very underrated fantasy play for at least the rest of this year.

For sure! The Sox have a much easier shedule ahead of them than the D-Rays.....

i think Takatsu is a HUGE sell high if youre in a keeper and even in a non-keeper if he gets you close to top-end closer value, id consider dealing him.
