This guy is clearly not the closer for the marlins anymore. Even just today, he came in middle relief. I'm just wondering if the Marlins have designated another closer that I could pick up real quick. That is, if they plan on ever winning another game...

i'm feeling your pain. i have the same concerns on my team and went and picked up looper the other day. of course, in like 4 or 5 games, all he's done is pitch 1 inning and gave up and earned run. i really don't know what else to do. almanza was mentioned a week or two ago but he got shelled in his opportunity. i know that nunez is being used in the earlier innings but my gut says he still emerges as the closer. i like looper's stuff but his mental make-up has been questioned to the point that closing may be too tough for him mentally. i don't know. the only thing that's certain is that nuez is the only pitcher to have success--limited, maybe, but he was successful.

The bullpen situation in Florida is very murky. I'd expect Nunez to get the bulk of the save opportunities over the rest of the season (70-75% would be my guess), but that's far from certain. The next two weeks should bring a bit more clarity - keep an eye on this situation as it develops.
