Halladay News

Postby Mookie4ever » Sun Jul 18, 2004 9:15 pm

The news during the Jays broadcast is that he is flying to see a specialist Dr. Andrews and will shut him down (for the year if necessary) if that is what the doctor recommends.

The last time that he saw Dr. Andrews about this same injury he said that the only treatment is rest.

In an interview Tosca said that things would be different if they were in a race - but he more or less admitted that they were out of it and there is no point in risking Halladay anymore this year.

Tosca also said that Roy complained of pain the last time that he pitched and it affected him a lot.

It really sounds as if Halladay is headed for an extended trip on the DL.

Well I didnt have nomar the first half of the year and now Halladay might be out the second half. Thats 2 out of my 3 keepers.

As far as trading him goes if he is done for the whole season that would be really whack. You might want to hold on to him until we get a final report.

Everybody involved was also taking the high road, dismissing the chance of a serious injury. Tosca said that it's not likely that he could be that hurt and still hit 95 mph on the radar gun, like he did on Friday night. Halladay, for his part, said the trip to Dr. Andrews is more a precautionary measure than anything else.

on the bluejays' site.... sounds a little encouraging.

well, now he's out 4-6 weeks with what they are calling shoulder fatigue.

I would not bet against him being shut down for the whole year, especially if they manage to convince somebody to take Delgado's $19M contract. JP really sounds as if he is preparing for next year.

The guy has logged 500+ IP the previous 2 seasons and Jays management ran him out there every 4th day last year. He is bound to break down at some point

People in this forum keep pointing out that even though he has high IP counts, his pitch count is always low. That is true but it is the pitching on 3 days rest that gets him. Also this year his pitch count has been up because his accuracy has been off a bit.

As a Jays fan I say shut him down, for the whole year if necessary.
