Gathright Called Up

Postby Iguana » Sat Jul 17, 2004 6:47 pm

This guy is going to be a SB monster. Glad I picked him up in my Yahoo league last week.
Help me pick my keepers? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=419885

Forget the man crush. I drop what I'm doing to watch Zack Greinke pitch.

Yeah I picked him up too....Rotoworld says he'll play 4-5 times a week, so I'll be checking the starting lineups and playing him accordingly.

reminds me of Pods last year, when he came up was a stolen base machine, ya see Gathright being similar ????

I only see Gathright having legit value in very deep leagues for this year.

He'll be a part time player. He'll offer zero production aside from the SB's. That's not to say that his steals aren't of some use, but I sure wouldn't be picking him up at the expense of anyone decent.

I agree with thehat. Gathright is definitely worth watching and picking up in deep keeper leagues. He should put up good SB numbers and will do so for a number of years.

Is he going to be giving Baldy and Cruz days off? Or be mainly a PR?

Likely DH and every now and then give an OF the day off.

"we're going to work Gathright in at all three outfield positions."

Lamar said before todays game that he would be "stunned" if Upton wasn't up by early August. So that still seems to be the target date right now.

My guess is that if Cantu plays well, then they might as well just release Rey Sanchez. Since both are right handed bats and Cantu can play more positions (2B,SS, & 3B), not to mention he is younger and has some promise to him. But if Cantu doesn't impress Piniella then it's a toss up between Sanchez and Fick. If that happens I still think they go with releasing Sanchez because Fick has been playing better and is a left handed bat.
