When you have a couple of guys going against lefties that generally suck really bad against them...what do you do when they are going against a lefty that sucks really bad?
I have Hafner and VMart going against Travis Blackley today. This kid doesn't seem to be anything special and has been getting lit up in all 2 of his major league starts prior to this one.
Would you play the splits and sit Vmart and Hafner if you have another option that would normally only play when the splits dictate...or would you say playing against an inexperienced pitcher who hasn't shown anything yet would outweigh going against a lefty?

Yeah, but VMART is only a stud against righties. Lieberthal is my backup.

I've got burned by the split a couple of times this season already. Specifically by Hafner and Martinez. I benched them against lefties and they did very well. Don't forget that they'll probably face a right handed reliever or two every game as well. I'd say only bench them against really good lefties which Blackley is not. That being said, I bet they both go 0 for tonight.

I'm playing Vmart against the splits but only because my other catcher option is Piazza vs. Millwood with piazza batting .159 in 44 abs and 0 for 6 this year.

well, blackley probably wont even last more than 5 innings so you have to figure that vmart might have a couple opportunities against right handed relievers...

Oh no.
Probably his best performance of the year. Lieberthal did great though 1/4.
At least I put Hafner in...and still had 3 hr and 9 rbis for the night.
