Before you ask, we have 2 computers, and I'm on the crappy backup one right now.
Our good computer isn't working for some reason. I just DL'd LimeWire Pro and was giving it a shot, and during the first 5 minutes of using it I lost my internet connection. It hasn't come back yet. Our other computer (the one I'm using now) takes the signal from the other computer, so it's not a bad connection, it's something wrong with the computer itself.
I already launched a system restore to yesterday and it didn't help at all. What do I do? I'm downloading Spyware/Adware removers on here and burning a copy to use on the other comp, and running my virus checker, but is there anything else to do? I don't want to have to nuke the HD again, I've already had to do it twice with that damn computer and it's a pain DL'ing all the old programs.
Any suggestions?

my usual solution is to backup everything important and flush the OS...
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

IF you have 2 hours to kill I would suggest calling up your ISP for help - Sympatico or Rogers? They both keep you waiting forever but usu have good advice.
I could backup my important files and start from scratch, but 1) I have to get somebody else to do that which I don't like bothering him and 2) it's a pain re-installing all my programs.
I use XP if that's what you meant.......... and I don't have a network, it's a wireless connection to the backup computer. We have yet another computer, just about as good as the main one, which is mine that I take to school, but for some reason the picture is upside down for everything........ it hasn't been turned on since April. I guess I'll fix that when need be

I indeed have Rogers, and I guess I could do that as well, but I work in 20 minutes, so that ain't gonna happen today. Maybe tomorrow morning.........
For some reason I see a formatting in my future

Busted! Not to steal LBJ's thunder but would me doing a rant about how immoral LimeWire/Kazaa/illegal_file_sharing is be a waste of time with people here?
Rant all you want.............. but I don't think you'll change anybody's mind.
I still buy CD's that I would have before, and probably more movies than I did before, but I understand where you're coming from. By using it, you promote it's use and make it more popular, and not everybody will still buy as many movies/cd's as they would otherwise.
I also think that this has opened the door to pay sites which charge a dollar per song. If the free DL programs are done away with, these sites like iTunes, etc, will become very popular and maybe revive the music industry.

I won't support or try to stop anyone from using the free download of stuff, but I will say that when it comes to the music industry, they brought it on themselves. I'm sure quite a few will disagree, but when you see a music star living in mulitmillion dollar homes with more cars than they can possibly drive, then why must they rip off the consumer to get their latest CD? A music CD is produced for less than $2 a pop, yet they sell for $14.99. I can see why quite a few people have decided to stop supporting music artists and would rather download it for free.
I do buy music CD's, go to concerts, go to movies, buy movies, etc. Just discussing the situation at hand.
