He is recently available on the ww in my league
He is not walking anybody this year as usual - but a 4-5 record on a pretty powerful team doesn't seem so good.
K's mean a lot in this league
Would you drop any of these SP's for him?
C. Lee
J. Westbrook
B. Webb
J Lieber
J Contreras
L Hernandez
J Suppan

Definitely Westbrook and Lieber. Except for Lee you could make a case for all of this other guys. Contreras still gets beat up a lot, Webb never wins, ditto for Hernandez and Suppan... i dont know he´s still Suppan
I personally would pick Wells over all of them except Lee and Contreras

I like Wells. His 4-5 record doesn't match with his 3.09 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. He's solid and the Padres are in the race. His biggest problem is the few strikeouts but he helps in other areas.
Webb sticks out as being one to drop for Wells. The D-Backs look like they're ready to pack it in for the season. Randy Johnson could be traded, Luis Gonzalez will have surgery in August, and they currently have the worst record in baseball (yes, even worse than Montreal).
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'

I second dropping Webb. Wells can certainly help your ERA and WHIP, but don't count on many K's. He's better when any BB ratios count.

This is HTH - and a loss with many K's will beat a winner with little K's - so I'm hesitating on dropping Webb or contreras with their K potential.
Westbrook looks like the best candidate to me.
