Pickup Help

Postby BiggityBaseball » Thu Jul 15, 2004 12:01 pm

So my leage only allows two pickups a week and the pick-up order goes from the last place team to the 1st place team (im in second).

I want to pick-up the following players, but Im debating the order (again I can at most get 2 of them, and would like all three so if a player might slide on the wire for another week I would wait till then)

Anyway, who should I get:
Charles Thomas
Paul Byrd
Ricardo Rodrigues

Rodriguez
Byrd
Thomas

Rodriguez seems to have upside potential. The Rangers are capable of putting up big run support and tend to do so often, which is why I believe he deserves the most consideration.

Byrd has experience, but Byrd might not bounce back so well. He's regarded well, but only really had two good seasons. I'm still not sure why *I* am big on him.

Thomas is looking great so far and I suppose it depends on if you need pitching or hitting. But if you're looking to raise your AVG I think the pitchers will catch up to him and he'll come back down to earth. In other words, you might have missed the best days of his average already.

Think any of them is more likely to slide until next week? And what about El Duque? Where do you think he fits into all of this?

Byrd
Rodriguez
Thomas

(Though Rodriguez has a very favorable start this week against Tor)

Don't worry about El Duque. He's a temporary fill-in until A) Brown and Mussina are healthy or B) Steinbrenner buys Unit.
