i dont think that will solve the Astros problems. A manager cant control how the players play. The fact that they get blamed for it sometimes is outrageous

So says the people who fired Grady Little and nicknamed Francona Fran "Coma"
Look at sweet lou and look at what he's done with the surging drays, and look what bobby cox has done this year with smokes and mirrors.
Now look at the Astros players and see how good their team really is. They shouldn't be a 500 team. Jimy cannot motivate players, he leaves his relivers in too long (See: Dotel, Lidge, and who was that lefty two years ago, Stone?) He's awful. Plus his strat- the adam everett bunt, wow.

Why does Garner keep getting all those jobs?

As I recall, the deal with Garner was that he is a super-agressive Larry Bowa type who does a great job firing up his team in the short-term, but whose antics quickly wear out their welcome. Could be what the Astros need if that is the case.

He can however control the players attitude about the game (enthusiasm, confidence, player feuds, etc). A new manager could be all the Astros need to light a fire in the players and get them going.
