Just not true. Go have a look at the numbers. I thought if anyone would understand the predicament of a closer not getting regular save opps. and work, a man cheering for John Smoltz would.
My order would clearly be
Gordon
Mota
Ryan
Otsuka

Smoltz has been a little shaky at times too this season, but has managed to get away with it. Julio hasn't. that's why his stats are terrible IMO. So if you leave him in your RP slot, you'll be charged with all the runs scored against him. Save opp or not. Since you simply don't know when he'll get a save and when not. While he might be halfway decent for the Orioles, he is downright horrible fantasywise.....
no, because then he would have gotten 25 saves for the fantasy team and not just the high ERA. This way he's acomplished a low amount of saves (due to low total of save opps, i know) and a high ERA. His ERA and WHIP will kill any fantasy owner if he doesn't at least get the save to go with it....

Great 'cos that's what he's going to get in the 2nd half, so go buy low on him

NZF...respect your views, but I just can't see what it is that gets you buzzed about Julio. Any closer gets saves if given the opportunities. Jimenez was 8/11 for Cleveland, Biddle was 34/39 last season and 11/14 this year...but they both suck. So does Julio, although he sucks to at least a lesser extent. But the bottom line is that save percentage is a pretty useless stat to me.
He hasn't been good this year, and he wasn't good last year. Sure, he got 36 saves, but he also contributed below average numbers in ERA and WHIP. Decent K's, but overall a lower tier closer. Fact is, he hasn't come close to reaching the promise he showed in '02.
I think he's worth a roster spot for now as Mazzilli has not shown any indication he'll give Ryan a chance...but with Mazzilli on very thin ice, that could change if there's a new skipper at some point.
