Picked these guys up off waivers:
- Johnny Estrada
- Michael Young
- Vinny Castilla
- Steve Finley
- Melvin Mora
- Ken Griffey Jr.
- Chris Carpenter
- Victor Zambrano
- Francisco Rodriguez
I also traded Pettite for Carlos Delgado straight up, but that hasn't paid off yet. Hopefully Delgado will have a monster second half.
I'm a firm believer in the philosophy of a ruling class... especially since I rule.
Back in March, I dealt away Brandon Webb and Josh Beckett for Roger Clemens and Ben Sheets. I knew Clemens would give NL hitters fits and thought Sheets would have a career year. Hard to tell who's been better between the two of them. They've got in first place in the pitching categories and in the league overall.
If only the Reds had re-signed Mike Cameron in 2000 and left Junior Sleepless in Seattle with all the death threats.
A lot of good pickups...Victor Martinez, Johnny Estrada, Travis Hafner, Chone Figgins, Jaret Wright and Nate Robertson, to name a few. Also, back on May 10th, I traded Ponson and Varitek for Kip Wells and Jeff Weaver. Not bad.
The best lyric ever: "You shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glass house and if you gotta glass jaw you should watch your mouth...'cause I'll break yo face."
I drafted Adrian Beltre in the last round in all of my 5 leagues. Picking up Dye was good, picking up Teixeira in 2 leagues when he got dropped also good.
The best thing that happened for me this year:
While I was on vacation for a weekend, someone dropped Delgado. Nobody picked him up off of waivers, and this is one of those Yahoo competitive leagues. So I picked him up.
My catcher strategy was to go with Jason Philips this year, but that didnt work out. Luckily, Victor Martinez was available in every league.
i did this trade early in the season and it worked out lovely!
i also traded wagner for maggs preseason and it seemed like another genious move when maggs was crushing and wagner was hurt, but now its more even... but i ripped graves off WW anyways
