Should I go ahead and accept 2nd place?

Postby dawade » Mon Jul 12, 2004 7:32 pm

I am starting my ESPN mid-season league after the Break, but in my Yahoo! league I feel that I am doomed for second place.

Standard 12 Team 5X5 Roto

whynners - 429R, 111HR, 428RBI, 69SB, .290AVG, 44W, 76SV, 669K, 3.35ERA, 1.14 WHIP (103 total points)

P-Town Pride - 429R, 111HR, 410RBI, 44SB, .284AVG, 42W, 37SV, 515K, 3.87ERA, 1.24 ERA (78.5 total points)

It appears the only huge stat advantage he has is in Saves and K's. Now let's examine the rosters.

2B: Vidro
3B: Rolen
SS: J. Wilson
OF: Guerrero
OF: Cabrera

OF: Huff
OF: Dunn
OF: Byrnes
BN: Pierre
BN: Freel

Is there a question or a point here? If not, this belongs in the venting forum.

What are some possible moves/upgrades to unseat this guy and take over first place?

Never give up. Did the US give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! Let me see your warface! I think your pitching is very suspect, especially if sheets keeps up the 2nd half trend. His pitching is much better then yours. His offense is better than yours also. I think you will have a tough time catching him, and its gonna take some good trades and waiver wire watching.

Dealing

Postby dawade » Mon Jul 12, 2004 7:57 pm

If a deal goes thru my lineup will look like this

C: V-Mart
1B: Helton
2B: Giles
3B: Huff
SS: Renteria
OF: Beltran
OF: Byrnes
OF: Pierre
Util: Thome
BN: Freel

I would also be swapping Loaiza for Webb. I proposed a trade of Dunn/Loaiza/Guillen to the Beltran owner for Beltran/Webb. He is in last place and needs Guillen and Dunn's numbers.

I love that move! Beltran and Pierre should allow you to catch him in SBs, and Webb is better than Loiaza. I just noticed you also have Thome. While I think you could use a better 3rd OF, I think your offense may be able to compete with his.
