"..But he is going to have to make a decision within the next couple of weeks. The Canadian Olympic team wants Morneau in Greece. That means he would be lost to the twins for all of August.
"We can't not let him go to the Olympics and then not bring him up," manager Rod Gardenhire said. "That wouldn't be fair."
Ryan agrees it's either-or situation, and the deadline for setting Olympic rosters is July 31st. I have to believe we'll see Morneau at the Metrodome very soon. The weak-hitting Twins would be nuts to let him out of their grasp for a month.
Gardenhire is pushing hard for Morneau. His position is clear: He wants him right here, right now.

"Do I want him here instead of at the Olympics?" he said after Sunday's loss. "Yes I do"

And Gardenhire wants Morneau in the lineup, not on the bench.
Gardenhire sees him platooning at DH to start with, and then perhaps muscling his way into a full-time role. Hey, nobody else seems capable of handling the job..."
