Buy, Sell or Hold Carlos Guillen?

Postby pbeall100281 » Mon Jul 12, 2004 5:39 pm

Anyone else think Carlos Guillen is a good canidate for second half dud? He has never really produced like this before and has had injury issues. I'm thinking I should trade him for what I can get while his stats look good. Buy, sell or hold Carlos Guillen?

Depends on who you have at the position he'd be leaving open and what you'd get in return. Anyone is worth selling (high, low or otherwise) if the fit is right.

he might be pretty good in the 2nd half, put up like 1/2 to 2/3 of the #s he amassed in the first half, but if you could find some sucka who thinks he's gonna duplicate the #s he had in the first half, sell fo-sho.

I dunno, I swapped Sheets for Guillen about a month and have been very pleased w/ the improvement over Berroa/ Lugo/ Crosby. I was very keen on Sheets too but have C. Zambrano/ Santana/ Vazquez/ and L. Hernandez to cover SP so I figured I'd take the risk.

When Crosby heated up, I slid Guillen over to 3rd and have won like 4 weeks in a row and Guillen has been a big part of it. Granted he's young and perhaps Detroit will wheeze when they are out of it more conclusively but having an SS who is hitting has been a big help.
