6x6 weekly roto - I'm involved in trade negotiations to send Ramon Ortiz and either Joe Mays or Brad Radke to another team for Mark Buerhle... If that happens, who do I pick up for my pitching depth?
Joe Kennedy, Jeremy Affeldt, Zach Day and Chris George are probably the best available options. Who would you take (or are there other options I might not be aware of)?
Thanks, folks...
My Roster:
C: Mike Piazza
1b: Paul Konerko
2b: Roberto Alomar
3b: Joe Crede
SS: Orlando Cabrera
OF: Shawn Green
OF: Vernon Wells
OF: Shannon Stewart
Util: Erubiel Durazo
Bench: Scott Speizio, Mark Ellis, Trot Nixon, Corey Patterson, Geronimo Gil, Endy Chavez
SP: Barry Zito
SP: Mark Prior
SP: Al Leiter
SP: Brad Radke
SP: Kip Wells
RP: Keith Foulke
RP: Kelvim Escobar
RP: Fransisco Cordero
Bench: Joe Mays, Tony Armas Jr., Felix Rodriquez,
Farm: Jose Reyes-SS-NYM, Coco Crisp -OF-Cle, John-Ford Griffin-OF-Tor(?), Ben Kozlowski-P-Tex
In case you were wondering, my third pitcher is no longer Al Leiter, but rather Ramon Ortiz, which would make my Ortiz/Mays for Buerhle swap physically possible...
Armas isn't on my bench anymore. I just gave him two weeks to prove himself... He has... He's now in the rotation... I took Kennedy for now, but I'm definitely looking for other options. As you can tell, it's a very deep league, so there aren't a ton of great choices.
Of the four you mentioned, I would take either Day or Affeldt. Day seems to have potential and Affeldt is in a weak division. Also look for pitchers like Shawn Chacon (I know, he pitches in Colorado but he has looked good), Carlos Zambrano for the Cubs, or Esteban Loiza(sp?) for the White Sox. Depending on how deep your league is, they might still be available and all have started out well. I suppose it is too much to ask that Runelvys Hernandez is still on the wire. Probably not.
