Closer question

Postby Smizzy » Sun Jul 11, 2004 11:52 pm

Im in a Points only league that awards 10 pts for "W" and "S" and 1 pt for every Out and K and Inning.

Nothing for ERA or WHip....Weekly rosters...2000 inningis for a half way league....and the roster breakdown is....

SP
SP
RP
P
P
P
P
P

so my question is how should my Pitching staff break down?

SP- J. Schmidt (SF - SP)
SP- C. Zambrano (ChC - SP)
RP -M. Rivera (NYY - RP)
P -J. Isringhausen (StL - RP)
P -K. Foulke (Bos - RP)
P -O. Pérez (Pit - SP)
P -F. García (CWS - SP)
P - J. Vázquez (NYY - SP)
_____________________
BN C. Pavano (Fla - SP)
BN C. Sabathia (Cle - SP)
BN A. Benítez (Fla - RP)
BN N. Robertson (Det - SP)
BN M. Mussina (NYY - SP)
BN D. Davis (Mil - SP)
BN K. WoodDL (ChC - SP)
BN B. Zito (Oak - SP)
DL J. BeckettDL (Fla - SP)
DL W. MillerDL (Hou - SP)

Do i need 4 top tier closers?

SP are worth more than closers right??? so how many should i play? and should i deal the rest for SP?

Or am i good?

You have a very nice pitching staff
I would not leave the lineup like that..I would take away a closer and put in a starter..they get K's--starting 2 top closers is just fine

I suggest trading a closer also

I would set your lineup like this:
SP: Schmidt, Zambrano
RP: Rivera
P: Benitez,Perez ,Garcia,Vazquez,Wood

and then trade away preferably Isringhausen

what does your offense look like(just curious)

C-J. Posada (NYY - C)
1B J. Bagwell (Hou - 1B)
2B A. Soriano (Tex - 2B)

IF J. Giambi (NYY - 1B,DH)
OF G. Sheffield (NYY - RF)
OF C. Lee (CWS - LF)
OF J. Pierre (Fla - CF)
OF P. Wilson (Col - CF)
Util A. Huff (TB - 1B,3B,RF,DH)
Util M. Teixeira (Tex - 1B,3B)
BN A. Ramírez

very nice overall lineup

you have an abundance of starters though I've noticed--use some of them as trade bait to upgrade your 1B..giambi is struggling right now..play Aramis Ramirez instead for the time being at IF

see if any teams want Pavano,Miller or Zito..see what you get--you might never use them on your team

maybe Miller and Zito but that's only IF they return to their stats the last couple of years

you won't get enough for preston..although if you wait a little, you might get more--he's just starting to heat up

Schmidt side wins..although your main problem IS at 1B
