Mets' Offense is Not Good

Postby MookieNJ » Sun Apr 13, 2003 5:25 am

The 2003 Mets look like the 2002 Mets. Their offense simply cannot score enough runs to win. At times it looks like they're not even trying, just going through the motions.

Gotta love Wigginton though. Team MVP so far.

Is it time to see Reyes get a shot? How about Heilman? They're both tearing up AAA so far ... Heilman's had a few good starts and Reyes has more stolen bases than the entire Mets team, probably than the Mets times 2 or 3!

If the Mets are going to continue to lose, it would be more fun seeing younger players play hard than overpaid veterans make errors and ground out.

1 year later and things sure have changed. Piazza is on fire and Matsui is showing he could be a great player I believe when Reyes comes back and Phillips gets to hitting they could score a pile of runs.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

Piazza isn't on fire, but he is hitting pretty well.
Matsui has shown some flashes of what he can do and has had a very productive June.
As for Reyes, who was out almost half the season with a strained hamstring, is now slowly coming around. He's riding a hitting streak in which he's batting .311....
As for Phillips, I think he's dead weight on this Mets team. He's batting .214 with five homers and 25 RBI.... :-t

the offense in 2005 should be solid,,,the addition of beltran to a healthy piazza, reyes, and matsui along with the upcoming wright should make a solid offensive squad in NY.....
